Booking Through Thursday: 5 books to reread

This week's Booking Through Thursday question is a good one: If you could only select five books to reread in a lifetime, what would they be and why?

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee - This is one of those stories that gifts the reader with something new at each reading.

Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert - I do reread this novel every few years. It never gets boring. It's always contemporary. It always boggles the mind that it was written hundreds of years ago.

Durable Goods by Elizabeth Berg - For me, Durable Goods is the comfort food of books. (I feel that way about most of Berg's books.) I love getting to spend time with the main character.

Happiness Is A Serious Problem by Dennis Prager - I get so much out of Dennis Prager's philosophy on happiness. This book will be a reread for life because of its admonitions that we are obligated to be happy and to focus on continually counting our blessings.

The Bible - Mercy. Grace. Wisdom. Drama. Spectacle. Miracles. Faith. Hope.

What books would appear on YOUR list?

  1. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the few books I've re-read. I need to check out a few of your other titles.

  2. Except the Bible, the only one I've read of these is Madame Bovary. That must have been like 35-40 years ago though!

  4. I knew I would forget someone important in my selections! Elizabeth Berg is one of my favorites...and I loved Durable Goods.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  5. Great choices! Mockingbird would definitely be on my list if I could choose a few more than five books.

Thanks for the visit, and happy reading!

  6. I haven't read any of the others except for the Bible. I really really have to get around to reading "to Kill a Mockingbird" one of these days.
